Error: Convert CommonRoad to SUMO

Hello all,

I tried to read an OpenDrive file in Commonroad Scenario Designer and then save it as a SUMO file.
When converting to SUMO the following error occurred:

The SUMO Simulation encountered an error: ‘charmap’ codec can’t decode byte 0x9d in position 3756: character maps to undefined.

What could be the reason for this? And how could this problem be solved?

Hi, that looks like an error raised by Sumo’s netconvert. Have you checked the original OpenDrive file and the converted CommonRoad map for non-UTF-8 characters? [moved post to “scenario designer” category].

How can I check it out for non-UTF-8 characters? Is thre some speciall procedure for it? (I look always in File which coding are used).

I just try all another file types from different sources - OSM, OpenDrive, SUMO - convert to CommonRoad and then to SUMO and it gives the same Error.

Another thing, that can be important: I am using Windows10 - can it be a ground for this error?

If it fails for OSM files as well it might be related to Windows. Could you attach an original file and the converted CommonRoad file where the conversion failed? And which Sumo version are you using?

I am using SUMO Version 1.12.0

How can I sent you original Files? In Forum is it not possible to attached directly .osm, .xml and .xodr Files or not?
